"Erected by the parishoners of Bilbrough in memory of those who have fallen in the war 1914 - 1918.

Brown, John Edward
Captain, "D" Battery 113th Army Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Killed in action 14th September 1918. Aged 33. Son of Sarah Ann Brown, of 126, Holgate Hill, York, and the late Edward Brown. Buried in Hagle Dump Cemetery, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, VI. A. 2.

Rowland, Rowland Evan Basil
Second Lieutenant, 16th Bn., Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Killed in action 27th July 1916. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France, Pier and Face 9 A 9 B and 10 B.

Bean, Cecil
Private 40934, "A" Coy. 2nd Bn., King's Own Scottish Borderers. Died of wounds 8th November 1917. Aged 21. Son of Hamson Shillitoe Bean and Cissie Bean, of Bilbrough, near York; husband of S. E. Bean, of Sledmere Crossing, Murton, near York. Native of Bilbrough. Buried in Etaples Military Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France, XXX. K. 11. Cecil Bean had formerly served as 15504 Reserve Cavalry Regiment.

Diffley, George
Private 4399, 2nd Bn., Scots Guards. Killed in action 26th October 1914. Aged 31. Son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Diffley, of Bilborough, York; husband of Florence Diffley, of 11, Claremont Place, Whingate Road., Armley, Leeds. Commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Ieper, West-Vlaanderern, Belgium, Panel 11.

Dunn, Frank
Driver 96129, 55th Divisional. Ammunition Col, Royal Field Artillery. Died of wounds 21st March 1918. Aged 21. Son of William and Kate Dunn, of Bilbrough, York. Native of York. Buried Lapugnoy Military Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France, IX. A. 8.

Gilyeat, Robert
Private 240879, 9th Bn., King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Killed in action 4th October 1917. Buried in Buttes New British Cemetery, Polygon Wood, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, XV. B. 2.
